Abstract

1311214 Laminated products EAH NAUE KG ROSSHAARSPINNEREI-GUMMIHAAR UND SCHAUMPOLSTERFABRIK 3 June 1970 [3 June 1969 9 April 1970] 26794/70 Heading B5N [Also in Divisions C1 D1 and El] In a system of floating mats, Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown), for coastal protection or water purification by micro-organisms each mat 31 or 42 is made of water-resistant synthetic-fibres attached to one another by, e.g. an adhesive or fusion. To give protection from fish an openweave fabric, gauze or synthetic-fibre felt backing 34 may be secured to one or each side of the mat by needled fibres 32, 33 attached to the backing by an adhesive. Alternatively, a sheet 41 of open-celled foamed plasticsmaterial is secured by needled fibres 43. To render the fibres water resistant they may be made of polyethylene or polypropylene or impregnated with a water-repellent material, e.g. a silicone oil or emulsion. The mats may be rendered buoyant by using hollow air-filled fibres or incorporating foamed plastics-material between the fibres. Floats made of rigid foamed plastics-material may be included in the mats, Figs. 5 and 5a (not shown).
