Abstract

1309746 Cylinders R C CLERK 9 June 1970 [11 April 1969] 18642/69 Heading F2T [Also in Division F1] In an axial-piston, rotary cylinder block pump or motor, the cylinders each comprise a sleeve 2 sealed at both ends by 0-rings 3, 4 in an over-size bore defining an annular chamber 6, which is connected to the cylinder port 8 by channels 7 so as to be flooded with, and subjected to the pressure of, the working liquid. As shown, the sleeves are retained by a star plate 5. In Fig. 2 (not shown) the sleeves are inserted at the other end of the cylinder block and retained by a cover-plate formed with the cylinder ports, one 0-ring being located in a cover-plate recess and the other being located between a sleeve flange and a chamfered ring. The sleeve or bore is shaped so that the chamber 6 is wider towards the cylinder port end.
