1308426 Educational appliances; question and answer devices EPOCH CO Ltd 8 June 1971 19409/71 Heading G5G [Also in Division H1] An educational device comprises a board or card 24 bearing two sets of matchable indicia 26 and coded by notches with the way in which indicia are to be matched, a housing 12 for receiving said board and including a plurality of button operated switches 22 connected to an indicator such as a lamp 34 behind a window 16, the arrangement being such that the indicator is energized only when a pair of buttons corresponding to matching indicia are actuated. As shown, first contacts 36 of the left hand column of buttons are separately connected to segmented contacts 56 by conductors 58. Second contacts 42 of these buttons are connected in common to the lamp 34. First contacts 36<SP>1</SP> of the right hand column of buttons are separately connected to contact members 64 by conductors 70. Second contacts 42<SP>1</SP> of these buttons are connected in common to a battery 32. The leading edge of each board or card 24 is notched (Fig. 2, not shown) so that, as this edge is inserted into a slot 14 of the housing 12 (see Fig. 6), electrical contact between contacts 56 and 64 is selectively broken in such a way that energisation of the lamp 34 can only occur if buttons for matching indicia are actuated. Depression of a button 22 against resilience of a strip 44 (Fig. 7) causes a projection 48 to deflect the contact strip 42 through an aperture 40 in an insulator strip 38 so as to make contact with a contact 36. Several different boards 24 are provided, each with apertures (28) to fit over the buttons 22.
