Abstract
1308375 Valves WERKZEUGMASCHINENFABRIK OERLIKON BUHRLE AG 7 July 1969 [11 July 1969] 32760/70 Heading F2V [Also in Division F3] In a gas operated firearm (see Divisions F3- F4) a firing rate regulator is provided. The regulator comprises a piston 40 movable in a bore of a casing 2 and having an annular groove 45, the casing being provided with ducts 31 communicating at one end with the bore opposite the annular groove and at the other end with the atmosphere and a gas channel 4, 76, 75, 22, 23 communicating with the bore adjacent the annular groove. The arrangement is such that the position of a flank of the annular groove determines the cross-sectional area of flow between the gas channel and the ducts 31. The piston 40 is biased on one side by a spring 39 and on the other side by a liquid 38 in a container 33, the liquid and the container having different coefficients of thermal expansion. The liquid may be mercury and acts on the piston 40 through a plunger 37.
