Abstract
1308247 Two-part couplings ENTREPRISE DE RECHERCHES ET D'ACTIVITES PETROLIERES (ELF) 16 June 1970 [18 June 1969] 29177/70 Heading H2E [Also in Division E2] A connection device for enabling an object to be moved from one place to another, comprises a fixed member 45 and a detachable member 33, said fixed member being adapted to be fixed to the object and having a substantially cylindrical, hollow, end portion adapted to fit freely within a corresponding cylindrical hollow end portion of the detachable member, the detachable member being provided with bolts 6, each of said bolts being slidable in holes in the end portion of the detachable member and engageable with a recess 5 in the end portion of the fixed member, each of said bolts being linked to one end of a respective hydraulic actuator 9 via a first bell crank 7, the other end of the hydraulic actuator being connected to a second bell crank, each second bell crank 14 also being linked to a respective auxiliary operating means 11, each bolt being movable into and out of its recess by operation of its hydraulic actuator or its auxiliary operating means, and the detachable member being adapted to be connected to a cable. As shown a member 39 is slidably carried by the member 33, movements of the member 39 being guided by lugs 3 and 15 and slides 4 and 16. The movement of the member 39 downwardly as shown connecting sockets 2 to spigots 1 carried by the second component the sockets being connected to hydraulic or electric lines and the spigots being connected similarly to hydraulic or electric lines in the object. The member 39 is moved downwardly as shown by a cam 29 which engages a follower 35 connected to the member 39; the follower is connected to a shaft 24 which is slidably in a sleeve 24<SP>1</SP> carried by the cam a biasing spring being provided to hold the follower and cam in engagement. A flange 29 of the cam is held against a flange 49 of the first member 33 by a spring 26 so that the cam is resiliently mounted. Rotation of the cam is carried out by an hydraulic actuator 32. Apertures 43 are provided in the member 41 so that dirt which enters the upper opening can find its way out.
