Abstract
1308118 Colour television tubes PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 14 Sept 1971 [17 Sept 1970] 42722/71 Heading H1D In a colour television tube provided with pairs of internal polepieces, such as 11 and 12 in Fig. 2, which extend through slots 17 and 18 in cylindrical member 16 and which are energized by an external convergence device to provide dynamic convergence of the beams, gaps are provided in the cylindrical member so that no closed electric path exists round a single slot. In Fig. 2 a slot 19 is provided to interrupt the electric path round a slot, and this reduces the time lag between the magnetic field at the beam and the field at the external convergence device from 4 to 1.5 microseconds, thereby simplifying the convergence circuits. In another arrangement, Fig. 3 (not shown), the slots 17 and 18 extend to one edge of the cylindrical member. The arrangement shown is for a three-beam shadow mask tube, and radial partitions 20-22 screen the three pairs of polepieces from each other.
