Abstract

1307456 Electric couplings SIEMENS AG 12 July 1971 [13 July 1970] 32561/71 Heading H2E [Also in Division H1] To connect circuits constructed on flat carriers 1 to each other and/or to a printed circuit board 3, pins 7, 8, 9, are inserted through and soldered into metalized bores 6 in the board, then the ends of the pins are butt soldered (using low melting point solder) to contact areas on the carriers 1. Pins 9 may project part way to allow test connections to be made, and heat sinks 4 may be provided because the surface of the carrier 1 on which components 2 are mounted faces the printed circuit board. The pins originally form the teeth of a " comb " (Fig. 2, not shown) the cross piece of which is removed after the pins have been soldered in the board 3, and the free tips of the teeth may be covered in solder inhibiting lacquer (5, Fig. 2) if a flood bath is used, leaving the tips free for a later soldering process using low melting point solder.
