Abstract

130,700. Plaisant, G. March 18, 1918. Addition to 126,340. Inductor-alternators ; machines with two or more armatures; magneto-electric machines.- The dynamo-electric machines set forth in the parent Specification are modified by constructing them with a number of H-shaped, U-shaped, or similar armatures so that they may operate as magnetos for the ignition of internal-combustion engines. The armatures c<1>, c<2>, c<3> are so arranged relatively to the field poles a, b that the changes in the maximum magnetic flux through them take place at different times. In a modification, the armatures and field poles are stationary, and the changes in the magnetic flux are effected by rotating sleeves g, Fig. 2. Some only of the armatures may be used for ignition purposes, while one or more may be used to produce the field exciting current. The members c<1>, c<2>, c,' Fig. 2, may be constructed as U- shaped permanent magnets or as ordinary U- shaped iron pieces without any windings, the induced winding being mounted on the field magnet structure a, b. A separate high-tension secondary winding need not be used.
