Abstract
130,689. Vickers, Ltd., McKechnie, Sir J., and Pratt, H. B. March 14, 1918. Aerostats; framework.-The girders of an aerostat structure are made of flexible tubes jointed together at their ends and inflated to the pressure necessary to secure the required rigidity. The tubes A are of seamless linen, cotton, or metallic fabric proofed with rubber, and are bound by wires a<2> to conical metal end-pieces a which are connected to joint-pieces C. One end of each girder is pivoted to one of the jointpieces C, and the other end is rigidly secured by two bolts. The diagonal bracing B is secured to lugs c<3>, and the radial and suspension ties are secured to lugs on the joint-pieces C.
