130,634. Caterpillar Tractors, Ltd., (Holt Manufacturing Co.). Feb. 26, 1918. Endless-track vehicles.-The truck sections are pivoted together and are so connected to the main frame that they can deflect considerably from their normal position to enable the tracks to follow depressions. In the form shown, the sections 13, 14 are pivoted together at 19, the rear sections 14 bearing on rollers 24 mounted on the frame 10. The front sections 13 carry the front idler wheels 17 and are centrally pivoted in spring-mounted bearings 16. Central springs 25 support the rear truck sections 14 in their normal position. The truck sections are fitted with flanges 44 which engage the undersides of the tracks and prevent sagging when the tracks are unsupported. A manually-operated hook 41 is provided for retaining the truck sections in their level position, and engages a hook 40 at the joint 19. The rear sections 14 may be pivoted by a spring-mounted bearing similar to the front section, the two sections being connected by links; or the main frame may be provided with a V-shaped block resting on the rear sections, and with plates which engage the flanges thereon.
