Abstract
1306216 Luggage racks WEATHERSHIELDS Ltd 30 Sept 1970 [1 July 1969] 33169/69 Heading B7J In a roof rack comprising a frame composed of a pair of longitudinal members 10 held in spaced parallel relationship by transverse members 11. 12, 13, 14, 15 rigidly secured to the longitudinal members, two arm assemblies 21 of substantially U-shaped outline are pivotably connected at their free ends to plates 19, one of which is welded at each end of the central transverse member 13, the arrangement being such that the arm assemblies are angularly movable about the pivots 24 between a retracted position and an operative position in which they may engage grooves 28 in suitcases supported by the frame (Fig. 1, shown only one suitcase); a locking arm 29 is provided for each arm assembly which is securable by a lock 30 provided in the appropriate outer transverse member 11 or 15. The suitcases each rest on a pair of transverse members 11 and 12 on 14 and 15, a groove 27 being engageable with the outer transverse member 11 or 15. Clips 31 are provided to additionally secure the cases to the rack. The rack has feet 17 and clamps 20 to secure it to the vehicle. The suitcase is preferably of the type described in Specification 1,304,004.
