Abstract
1305473 Conveyers; shoots IMPERIAL TOBACCO GROUP Ltd 8 Oct 1971 [6 Nov 1970] 52876/70 Headings B8A and B8S An open-sided sling 10 in a container 13 is loaded with alternate layers of cigars 14 and fibreboard spacers 15, the cigars and spacers being discharged from the bottom of the container 13 by a reciprocating pusher 20. A catch 27 for engaging the spacers 15 is secured to the pusher by a leaf spring 26. After the pusher has transferred the bottom layer of cigars 14 on to endless belts 21, Fig. 4, the pusher is retracted and the spacer 15 at the bottom of the container 13 is withdrawn by the catch 27 for re-use, Fig. 5. Forward operation of the pusher then transfers the next, now bottom, layer of cigars on to the belts 21 and the sequence continues. The pusher is subject to the control of mechanical sensors 30, 31 and a photo-electric sensor 34. The pusher is preferably operated automatically but it may be hand operated. Articles other than cigars may be handled. (For Figures see next page.)
