Abstract

1304207 Space heaters ANDREWSWEATHERFOIL Ltd and G T K DEAN 16 Nov 1971 [17 Nov 1970] 54701/70 Headings F4S and F4V An air heater for space heating is adapted for alternative use as either a forced-flow or natural flow convector. The heater, which in use is located against a wall, consists of a housing 12 within which is disposed near a heated air outlet 14 at the upper end thereof, a heater pipe 16 (or a group of such pipes), and near a heated air outlet 13 at the lower end thereof a heater pipe 15 (or a group of such pipes). The housing also contains at least one room-air recirculating fan 19 (controlled, e.g. by a room thermostat). When the fan is switched on a forced recirculation of room air flows over the pipes 15, 16 to outlets 13, 14. With the fan inoperative a natural convection flow of heated air passes out of the housing via the upper outlet 14 with the opening 13 then serving as an air inlet. The arrangement shown includes also a fresh air fan 22 (preferably controlled by a manuallyactuated switch) whereby external air may be admitted to the water if required. The fresh and recirculated air streams may be separated from one another by portions within the casing; and the fresh and recirculating air fans may be located in a single casing at one end of the housing 12.
