Abstract

1303976 Lithium undecylenate M GREENE 11 Feb 1971 4435/71 Heading C2C The novel compound lithium undecylenate possessing a terminal carbon-carbon double bond may be prepared by mixing a substantially molar equivalent of a lithium ion source and an undecylenate ion source in the presence of water, C 1-3 alcohol, benzene, acetone, petroleum ether, glycerine, propylene glycol, a polyoxyethylene glycol (200-800 M.W.) or a mixture thereof and recovering the lithium undecylenate. Pharmaceutical compositions of lithium undecylenate show antimicrobial activity when applied topically with or without excipients.
