Abstract

1303612 Headsets S G BROWN Ltd and D IBBOTSON 23 Nov 1971 [5 April 1971] 8707/71 Heading H4J An ear defender head set having for one or each ear an electro-acoustical transducer 14 mounted inside a housing comprising two portions 10, 11 which can be separated by the action of a lever 30, 32, carried by base portion 10, against a cammed flange 33 carried by annular portion 11, so as to admit external sound waves to the housing and ear. A spring 22 provides a restoring force to the annular portion 10 and holds the two portions together via an intermediate sealing ring 12 of soft foam with the lever in the closed position. The portion 10 is sealed against the wearer's head by soft padding 13 which may be in the form of an air cushion. The transducer is held in position by a metal shaped element 18 and padding 17, 20. The lever movement is limited by stops 35 (Fig. 2, not shown).
