1303300 Electron beam magnetic deflecting apparatus GTE SYLVANIA Inc 13 Aug 1970 [19 Aug 1969] 39125/70 Heading H1D A toroidal deflection yoke for a cathode ray tube comprises annular mounting rings 19 and 21, Fig. 1, fixed at each end of an annular mounting member, turns of wire (not shown) wrapped toroidally round these members, and a support member 7 of flexible plastics material comprising a large diameter portion provided with spaced peripheral slots 65 adapted to engage ear portions 27 on the mounting ring 19 and a smaller diameter portion 79 adapted for clamping to the neck of a cathode ray tube. The annular mounting member comprises a core member 13 surrounded by a shield member 23 which is provided with slots 45 engaged by hook members 31 on the mounting ring 19 and with protuberances 47 which engage notches 41 in tab members 33 extending from mounting ring 21. The shield is preferably of flexible plastics material, but may be of copper or aluminium or chromium. The rings 19 and 21 are preferably provided with wire-receiving grooves 29 and 43, and the end portions of the wire may be fixed to the tabs 37. A printed circuit board 25 may be supported in spaced relation to the end wall 73 of the support member 7 and to the ring 21 by means of tabs 35; the board is provided with a protuberance 57 adapted to extend through an aperture 69 in support 7 through which external connections may be provided to the coils. The end wall 73 of the support member 73 may be provided with a magnet holding means 87 for accommodating a blue lateral magnet for a colour television tube.
