1303058 Refrigerating pipes UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY 11 Dec 1970 [8 Oct 1969] 49544/69 Heading F4H A freezing system for freezing liquid in a pipe 1 comprises a leak-tight jacket 2, an injection tube 4 terminating in a nozzle 5 disposed within a tubular baffle 6, an antisplash screen 7 and a vent pipe 9, such that in operation a liquefied refrigerant gas (e.g. CO 2 ) is expanded through the nozzle into a liquid (preferably a low freezing point liquid ethoxyethanol), thus freezing the pipe and its liquid content. The gas bubbled through the liquid is vented through the vent 9.
