1301625 Lamp supports PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 27 May 1971 [30 May 1970] 17360/71 Heading F4R A lighting fitting adapted to be mounted on a pole 3 which extends either in a generally vertical or in a generally horizontal direction incorporates a cube-shaped mounting element 6 containing a pair of pivoted flaps 9, 10 each of which can be swung about its respective pivot 11, 12 between a vertical position, as shown, in which it co-operates with a generally vertical pole inserted through an aperture 7 in the lower face of the element, and a horizontal position (Fig. 3, not shown) in which it co-operates with a generally horizontal pole inserted through an aperture 8 in a side face. The upper flap carries two pairs of stop members 13, 14 for engagement with one side of the pole and the lower flap carries a pair of clamping screws 15, 16 adapted to be tightened against the other side of the pole. The upper flap has a dovetailed recess 18 to receive the edge of the pole when it is in an inclined position 3a and also has a pair of adjusting screws (19, Fig. 3) which abut against the upper face of the cube when the flap is horizontal and enable the position of the fitting to be adjusted. The space between the element 6 and the housing 1 of the fitting is filled with sealing material 17 and a cover is placed over whichever one of the apertures is not in use.
