Abstract
1300783 Blowing bitumen OESTERREICHISCHE MINERALOLVERWALTUNG AG 2 Oct 1970 [3 Oct 1969] 46887/70 Heading C5E In a method of blowing bitumen with air in which an upward flow of bitumen rich in air and a downward flow poor in air are produced, the upward flow is mechanically agitated, e.g. by a vane mixer, to disperse the air. The bitumen is delivered to the base of a vessel which encloses a container which separates an inner upward flow of bitumen from an outer downward flow, the agitator being mounted immediately over an aperture in the base of the container to which the air is delivered. The container may extend the height of the vessel, and have intermediate apertured floors each surmounted by an agitator, see Fig. 2 (not shown). Bitumen flows over the top edge of the container and down outside the container to an outlet in the base of the vessel.
