Abstract

1300744 Regenerating adsorbents W C HOLMES & CO Ltd 13 April 1970 [25 Feb 1969] 9890/69 Heading B1L In a twin-tower swing-bed adsorption system the cooling- time of a regenerated bed is reduced by stopping cooling before reaching ambient temperature and at the point where desorption ceases and adsorption can commence. As shown compressed gas, e.g. air from inlet 10 is dried in bed 20 whilst spent bed 18 is regenerated by passing a portion of the compressed gas as a purge through inspirator 30 and heater 23. The inspirator 30 allows the compressed gas to be supplemented by a much larger volume of air or any other lower pressure gas. The heater is shut off whilst the purge is used to cool bed 18. Numerals 12, and 14 denote product and purge outlets.
