Abstract

1300576 Pivotable sliding door; hinges BECKETT LAYCOCK & WATKINSON Ltd 8 Oct 1970 [21 July 1969] 36617/69 Headings E1J E2F and E2M A sliding and pivoting door mechanism comprises a carriage 1 slidable along a rail and releasably connected at its ends to the door, pivots 8, 11 about which the door is pivotable on release of said connection, and guide means 6, 10 allowing sliding of the door relative to the pivots. The releasable connection comprises hooks (2, 4. Figs. 2, 4, not shown). Pivots 8, 12 extend into rectangular shoes 7, 11 which are normally slidable in guide grooves 6, 10 in the door edges. On pivoting of the door, the pivots 8, 12 displace tongues 37 outwardly of the shoes and teeth 43 engage the groove to prevent sliding of the door. (For Figures see next page)
