Abstract
1300451 Cartridge belt feed mechanism WERKZEUGMASCHINENFABRIK OERLIKON-BUHRLE AG 21 Oct 1970 [28 Oct 1969] 49861/70 Heading F3C A cartridge belt feed mechanism comprises an hydraulic motor in the fluid circuit of which a relief valve is situated so that on the motor being overloaded the relief valve is actuated to depressurize the motor. The belt is fed through a channel 1 and the overload arrangement comes into operation when, during firing of the gun, the cartridge belt becomes jammed in the channel whence the motor is stopped. The mechanism further comprises a feed wheel having teeth 35 there being an arrangement within the wheel for driving the wheel in the feed direction and, after the stopping of the motor allowing the wheel to rotate limitedly contrary to its feed direction to relieve jamming forces acting on the cartridge belt (Fig. 4, not shown). The limitation on the "reverse" rotation is achieved by a fixed pin working in a slot of a plate of the arrangement (Fig. 5, not shown). The pin may be withdrawn either hydraulically or manually for "reverse" rotation of the feed wheel when loading ammunition boxes 7 through the channel 1 (Fig. 3, not shown). The feed channel 1 is two relatively rotatable portions 2, 10 therebeing a disc 13 interposed therebetween. The disc 13 is provided with a slot for the passage of the cartridge belt, the belts being guided towards the slot by a flexible rail and through the slot by rollers (Fig. 2, not shown).
