Abstract

1300151 Scoop-arm machines HOPPER Inc 16 March 1970 [19 March 1969] 12514/70 Heading E1F A back hoe or grader 10 comprises a boom 15, a dipper 18 carrying a work implement 21, a ram 23 for moving the boom, a ram 25 for moving the dipper, and a control mechanism 50 including cams 65, 66, 67 cooperating with pilot valves 70, 74 carried by arms 51, 52 and a carrier having lengths respectively corresponding to the boom, the dipper and levers 20 of the implement 21 and moved in accordance with movement of these members. The ram 23 is mounted between the boom 15 and a pivoted sub-frame 30 moved by rams 31. The implement 21 includes a bucket 36 moved pivotally in two planes relative to the levers 20 by rotary hydraulic devices 39, 41, and links 44 connect the levers 20 to the boom 15, the point of interconnection of the links to the boom being adjustable relative to pivot 17 of the dipper to the boom. The links 44 have their counterpart in an arm 53 of the control mechanism. The arm 51 corresponding to the boom 15 is moved through a chain and sprocket drive 62, 77, 78, the sprocket 78 being rotated by an arm 80 moved by the boom 15 and having a pin which engages an arm 82 adjustably moved about the axis of the sprocket 78 by a ram 84. The movement of the dipper 18 effects movement of the arm 52 through hydraulically interconnected rams 90, 94. The cam 66 is adjusted by a motor 104 through sprocket and chain drives 105 to 108 operating nut and screw drives.
