Abstract
1300071 Submerged tanks SOC ANON DES ENTREPRISES LEON BALLOT 8 Dec 1969 [11 Dec 1968] 59815/69 Heading E1H A reinforced-concrete reservoir for a hydrocarbon liquid rests on subaqueous ground 34 and has cylindrical walls 23, 24, 25 and radial partitions 26, 27, 28, 30 between a base 33 and roof 32, the base being separated from the ground by an annular pad 36 abutting a reinforcement 35. Holes 31a in the base and openings (not shown) in the reinforcement allow ambient water to pass into, or out of, the reservoir as said liquid leaves, or enters through a pipe connection (not shown) in the roof. Closable openings 37, 38 interconnect compartments between the partitions. The reservoir may have only two cylindrical walls and if the ground is soft the pad and reinforcement may be omitted, Figs. 1 to 3 (not shown). When ground is uneven three pads in triangular formation may be provided instead of the pad 36, Fig. 4 (not shown). The reservoir may be lined internally or externally with metal, epoxy resin or a mixture of pitch and epoxy resin. The concrete may be prestressed, an arrangement of reinforcing elements being described with reference to Figs. 7 to 9 (not shown).
