1299554 Domestic boiler; burners W BRANDL 19 April 1971 [25 March 1970] 23936/71 Headings F4A and F4T A boiler for separately providing house heating and domestic water from a single heated primary water source comprises a closed vessel 5 for domestic water, a chamber 1 enclosing the sides 6 and bottom 7 thereof and having a cup-shaped portion 3 downwardly opening over a burner means 40, for heating primary water in the chamber, a closed compartment 10 surrounding the chamber and having means for passing water for house heating therethrough and an exhaust flue having a horizontal portion 33 traversing the chamber and a vertical upper portion 36. Primary water evaporated in chamber 1, aided by evacuated upper chamber region 29 and maintained by water line 47, heats fresh water supplied through conduit 22 and house heating water supplied through conduit 14 to flow helically around the chamber in a path provided by wire member 11 to an outlet 16. The burner means comprises a ring 40 fed with gas or oil having peripherally arranged flame nozzles directed substantially tangentially preferably at an angle of 45 degrees to give a spiral flame, Heat transfer to the primary water is aided by radial ribs 43 in the combustion chamber and longitudinal ribs 44 in the horizontal flue portion. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the chamber 1 completely surrounds the vessel and the compartment 10 does not extend over the top of vessel 5. In Fig. 7 (not shown) two separate house heating circuits are provided by, a horizontal wall (48) dividing the compartment 10 and by two sets of flow conduits. The boiler is enclosed in a thermally insulated housing 37. Heating coils carrying water for house heating may be provided in upper region 29 of the chamber for giving extremely hot water (>100‹ C.).
