1298947 Car anti-dazzle arrangement JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd 17 June 1970 [21 July 1969] 36545/69 Heading G1A In a car lighting system in which the projected beam is controlled to avoid dazzling the driver of an oncoming car by means of a photo-sensitive device exposed to light from the oncoming car; a cover is provided to prevent light falling on the light-sensitive device when the system is not in use. Shutters 16a, 16b, Fig. 1 are moved across apertures 12, 13 in a plate 11 by the output of photo-sensitive device 17 the shutters being positioned in accordance with the position of the incoming light in aperture 12 and the front edge of 16b being in advance of the front edge of 16a to give the necessary protection. Cover 23 protecting the cell from for example sunlight is actuated by gravity to obscure aperture 12 and is lifted by a solenoid when the system is switched to operate.
