Abstract

1298808 Oxidation resistant refractories UNITED STATES BORAX & CHEMICAL CORP 29 Oct 1970 [17 Nov 1969] 56208/69 Heading C1J [Also in Division C7] Oxidation resistant material is made by hot pressing at 1À0-1À5 tons/sq. inch and 1700- 2200‹ C. a powdered mixture having an average particle size less than 2À5 microns comprising by weight 40-60% carbon preferably graphite, 10-40% silicon, titanium disilicide, boron silicide or silicon carbide or a mixture of two or more of these, and 10-40% boron carbide, boron suicide, titanium diboride, zirconium diboride or boron nitride or a mixture of two or more of these. Material of density at least 80% of theoretical is produced.
