Abstract
1298158 Refractories PPG INDUSTRIES Inc 9 March 1970 [10 March 1969] 11109/70 Heading C1J [Also in Divisions B1 and F4] Refractory bricks are protected against corrosion by superficially coating them with a refractory metal oxide powder so that the pores in the bricks become filled. A dry refractory brick assembly is made by filling the joints between individual bricks with the oxide powder. Out of an extensive list of oxides and complex oxides, e.g. phosphates, silicates, zirconates, chromates, aluminates, titanates &c., the preferred examples are SiO 2 , TiO 2 , ZrO 2 , MgO, Al 2 O 3 , mullite (3Al 2 O 2 .2SiO 2 ) and zircon (ZrO 2 .SiO 2 ) or mixtures thereof.
