Abstract
1297628 Protective arrangements; HVDC transmission systems ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO Ltd 19 May 1970 [20 May 1969] 25706/69 Headings H2F and H2K A fault detecting arrangement for a D.C. transmission line comprises means for producing respective output signals when the rate of change of the line current and the rate of change of the line voltage exceed predetermined levels, and a detector responsive to coincidence between the signals to provide an output for effecting an alarm or control function. As shown, current transformer 6 is connected to differentiating circuit 8 and a level detector 9. A voltage signal, e.g. from a resistive or capacitative voltage divider (not shown), is applied to a differentiating circuit 4 and level detector 5. An AND gate 10 provides an output when logic signals from the detectors are coincident. The polarities of the rate of change signals are determined by the function of the adjacent converter station 1, 2.
