Abstract

1297534 Lever jacks; garage lifts EPCO Ltd 19 April 1971 [29 April 1970] 20590/70 Headings B8H and B8J A conventional lever jack 10 is converted, either temporarily or permanently, to a garage lift by the addition of an, attachment. A. The jack 10 comprises a wheeled chassis 12 mounting a lever in the form of a jib 20 pivoted at 22,and raised by an hydraulic actuator operated by a handle 18. A load support block 24 is carried at the end of the jib 20 and is stabilized.by parallel links 28. The attachment A comprises a lower frame in the form of cross-bar 34 with hooks 41 round jack axle 42 and clamp straps 38 secured to the chassis 12 by bolts 40 and an upper X- frame 43 with cranked arms 43A and arms 43B connected by a strut 44 engaged by the block 24. All the arms have support pads 58 pivotally mounted on sliding extensions. The cross-bar 34 has a wheeled bracket 36 at either end, each of which has a link 50 pivoted at 54 the other end of which is pivoted at 52 to the associated arm 43A. The upper frame 43 thus maintains its attitude when lifted by actuation of the jack 10. The frame 43 may be locked, in position either manually or automatically,by means not shown.
