Abstract
1296470 Delivering sheets CHAMBON Ltd 8 July 1970 [11 July 1969] 33110/70 Heading B8R An apparatus for receiving sheets 1a cut from a web 1 by a rotating cutter 2 and forming an overlapping stream of sheets on a conveyer 38 running at a lower linear speed than the uncut web has at least one pair of transverse cylinders downstream of the cutter forming a passage through which the cut sheets 1a and uncut web can freely pass, one portion of the periphery of an upper cylinder 14 of said pair comprising at least one boss 14a a peripheral contour of which lies on an arc of a circle coaxial with the cylinder 14 and one portion of the periphery of of the lower cylinder 16 comprising at least one recess 16a the bottom of which has a contour lying on an arc of a circle co-axial with the cylinder 16, the cylinders being rotatable in opposite senses and at a speed such that the boss engages in the recess to pinch the trailing end of each sheet and momentarily retard its travel relative to the uncut web so that overlapping of the sheet and web occurs. The length of the sheets cut from the web 1 by co-operation of a rotating cutter blade 3 with a fixed blade 5 can be varied by varying the speed of rotation of the blade 3. Each sheet is then fed via rollers 11, 12, 18, 19, 21, 33, which rotate at a greater peripheral speed than the linear speed of the issuing sheets so as to separate them, between the rotating cylinders 14, 16. The cylinders 14, 16, which may be rotated at various speeds, may have more than one recess and more than one boss. Bottom guides 30 and 36, the latter having downwardly inclined teeth 37, may be provided.
