1296052 Lockable closures WILMOTBREEDEN Ltd 17 March 1970 [20 March 1969] 14827/69 Heading B8T A lockable closure, e.g. a petrol gap comprises an inner part 4 adapted to fit on to a container rim and shrouded by an outer part 8, the two parts being interconnected by a resilient snapon connection which may be in the form of a circlip 22 projections on the parts concerned. The inner part 4 may have a central depressed portion 6 and a side wall 5 having radially inwardly projecting tongues 2, 3 for engagement with cut-outs in the rim of a conventional petrol filler neck (not shown). The outer part 8 has a central projection 7 having a peripheral groove 23 accommodating a circlip 22, which may be of nylon and which is snapped into a co-operating groove 24 in the side wall of the central depressed portion 6 of the inner part 4. A cylinder 14a in the projection 7 may be turned by a key to transversely move a projecting nose (19), Fig. 2 (not shown), of slide 16 into engagement with one of a number of indentations (21) in the central depression 6 of the inner part 4 so that, in the unlocked position, the inner and outer parts 4 and 8 turn together to screw the inner part on to the filler neck. In the locked position the projecting nose (19) disengages the indentation (21) so that the inner part rotates independently of the outer portion and cannot be unscrewed.
