Abstract
1294784 Coating apparatus GAO GES FUR AUTOMATION UND ORGANISATION mbH 19 April 1971 [4 Feb 1970] 20888/71 Heading B2L [Also in Division B6] Packages are marked by spraying successive coatings thereon which coatings react to form identifiable markings, the first coating being applied by a spray gun as a continuous band and the second being applied over this band as an intermittent pattern. The first component may be a heavy metal salt such as copper sulphate or lead chloride and the second component may be a light metal sulphide which reacts to form a black marking. The spaces between the markings may be given a contrasting colouring by the spray application of a soluble carbonate in the gaps between the markings so that a white background is produced. As shown two strips of markings are applied wherein guns 10, 11 produce the first coating, guns 12, 13 the second and guns 14, 15 the background coating. The guns operate continuously and a shutter may be placed in front of the jet to prevent egress of the spray which then runs back to a reservoir for re-use.
