Abstract
1294528 Tube joints; wedges RAILTEC CORP 13 Feb 1970 6933/70 Headings F2G and F2K [Also in Divisions E1-E2] Tubular posts 12 of a railing structure are connected to horizontal locking bars 13 by hangers 21, which are a press fit in between the base 17 and flanges 19 of the locking bar and have a depending portion 24 inserted in the top of the post, and wedges 27 forced down between the hangers 21 to press serrated faces 26 into frictional contact with opposed inner walls of the post. The wedge limbs 29 each has a rib at its lower end to engage a corresponding groove 31 on the respective hanger. The lower rails 36 are secured to connections 41 secured to the posts by rivets by a U-section wedge 48 which engages between flanges in the rails and grooves in the connector. Vertical tubular rails 61, Fig. 8, are connected to opposed holes in the lower rail and the connecting bar by locking studs 63 which are easily insertable through the hole into the rail with projections 69 interfitting as shown in Fig. 8, and are held in engagement with the rail when the right hand stud is tapped down by a hammer so that projections 69 abut each other. The studs are of triangular section. The projections 69 are chevron shaped.
