Abstract
129,359. Blackburn Aeroplane & Motor Co., and Booth, H. Oct. 31, 1917. Tanks and like containers, arrangement of.-Petrol tanks or receptacles for mail or merchandise are carried well out on the wings of aeroplanes, the wing floats in the case of seaplanes being utilized for this purpose. Fig. 5 shows a seaplane with folding wings provided with floats 9, 10 at the wing-tips acting as petrol tanks. Pipes 11, 12 having flexible sections at the wing hinges are led from the bottoms of the tanks to a common pipe 14 connected to the carburettor, and pipes 19 lead from an airpump on the engine to the tops of the tanks so as to force the petrol into the pipes 11, 12. Means for regulating the flow from the tanks either separately or simultaneously are provided. A non-folding biplane, with streamlined tanks arranged above the upper wing-tips- and feeding the carburettor by gravity, is also described.
