Abstract

1293349 Drop keels R W AMEY 24 Oct 1969 [10 Dec 1968] 58736/68 Heading B7V [Also in Division F2] A retractable keel 1 of a yacht is sealed in its housing 2 by means comprising an inflatable sealing ring 4 which is held captive by the housing and when inflated substantially fills the space between the keel and the housing thereby locking and sealing them together. The ring 4, preferably of rubber, is housed in a channel 3 in the housing 2 and when inflated by compressed air controlled by a valve 5 urges an L-section flexible strip 7 against the keel 1.
