Abstract

1293311 Cases for tape cassettes SONY CORP 19 April 1971 [12 Feb 1970(2)] 21672/71 Heading B8P A case for housing a tape cassette comprises plate members 21, 22 pivotally connected by a side member 23. The plate members 21, 22 have windows 24, 25 to receive the raised portions of the cassette. The member 22 has integral hollow hexagonal projections 26A, 26B which extend through the tape reel openings in the cassette and are frictionally engaged by projections 27A, 27B integral with the member 21. The projections 26A, 26B may have inwardly extending longitudinal ribs or the projections 27A, 27B may have outwardly extending longitudinal ribs to facilitate engagement. In modifications, the plate members may be hinged together along a line centrally of the side member; the plate members may be thicker and have recesses instead of windows to receive the raised portions of the cassette; the hexagonal projections may be provided with detent means (59A, 59B) and the projections 27A, 27B are omitted and replaced by holes (60A, 60B) in which the detents engage; two side members may be provided and windows are provided in the plate members adjacent each side member to enable the cassette to be inserted in two positions; or side members may be connected to the sides of the plate members perpendicular to those having windows.
