Abstract
1291113 Cleaning pipes W F WOODS 21 July 1970 [24 April 1969 8 Oct 1969] 20977/69 and 49512/69 Heading F2N Apparatus for use in cleaning gas mains comprises a tank divided into chambers 12, 14 by a partition 16 extending from the top to close to the base of the tank, chamber 12 being connected to a gas main by flexible trunking 18 and chamber 14 being connected by way of a chamber 34 to a vacuum pump 20. Chambers 12, 14 are partially filled with water, the level of which is above the base of the partition 16, and a baffle plate 26 is provided so that on operating the pump air sucked out of the chamber 12 passes along an extended path beneath the baffle to the chamber 14 to produce a good cleaning action on air so that substantially clean air passes through the pump. Chamber 14 is provided with baffles 22, 24, and the further chamber 34 is provided with a partition 36 to further trap debris and drops of water. In a modification the baffle 26 is replaced by a generally vertical baffle plate secured to one side of the partition 16 and the lower edge of which is offset from the lower edge of the partition 16 and extends the same depth into the water.
