Abstract

1290337 Bag slitting machines SIMON HANDLING ENGS Ltd 18 March 1970 [2 April 1969] 17261/69 Heading B8C In a bag slitting machine the ends of a bag are engaged by spiked plates 10, 11 so that the bag is supported above a hopper 12, a pair of blades 19, 20 on which the bag is impaled are separated to slit the bag and the plates 10, 11 are pivoted towards and away from each other a plurality of times by a pneumatic cylinder 16 in order to empty the bag. After bag-slitting, a stirrup 29 is pivoted by a cylinder 30 to impact on the upper surface of the bag to cause the bag contents to flow and is then withdrawn. After the bag has been emptied a further stirrup 31 is pivoted by a cylinder 32 to throw the bag from the machine. The bag is first placed on a loading table 25 and actuates a microswitch 26 to start the machine. The table 25 is then pivoted by a pneumatic cylinder 27 to throw the bag on to the plates 10, 11.
