Abstract
1288790 Switching circuits for AC loads MARCONI CO Ltd 20 Nov 1970 [23 Dec 1969] 62738/69 Heading H2H An A.C. switching circuit comprises a triac 3, a reference voltage source 6, a capacitor 13 and a comparator 5 for comparing the reference voltage with the voltage across the capacitor to produce a trigger voltage for the triac. The capacitor 13 is charged via a rectifier circuit 12 connected to the A.C. supply terminal 1 and transistors 8, 9, the voltage across the capacitor comprising one input to the comparator 5. An electronic switch 14 discharges the capacitor at each zero crossing of A.C. supply and the linear variation of the potentiometer 6 causes a linear variation of the mean voltage supplied to load 2, the triac being fired when the voltage across the capacitor exceeds the reference voltage.
