Abstract

1288360 Printing machines DE LA RUE GIORI SA 19 April 1971 25 Feb 1970 24350/71 Heading B6C A multi-colour intaglio printing machine more particularly for printing bank notes comprises (a) two offset cylinders 3, 4 receiving impressions from multicolour engraved cylinders 1, 2 and between which the paper 33 passes to be printed on both sides, (b) a device III for drying the printing and (c) an engraved-plate multi-colour printing machine 24, 25 for subsequently printing the paper on one face only. The cylinders 3, 4 print a security background, and the machine 24, 25 prints the main design. Drying and paper dampening apparatus.- The drying device III may comprise an infrared pre-drying device, gas burners for final drying, a device for dampening the dried paper, and cooling means. Wiping devices.-The engraved printing cylinder 24 of the machine 24, 25 is provided with the usual wiping device 32, and a similar device may be provided for each cylinder 1, 2. As shown, however, the cylinders 1, 2 are damped by devices 5, 14 in such a way that the parts which do not print will not accept ink.
