Abstract
1288021 Softening textiles and paper KAO SOAP CO Ltd 9 Jan 1970 [11 Jan 1969] 1149/ 70 Headings D1P and D2B Textiles and paper, are softened using a composition which comprises a cationic surfactant and/or surface active betaine together with a compound of formula: wherein R is C 8-18 alkyl or alkenyl, R' is C 1-2 alkenyl, R" is H or methyl, M is an alkali metal and m or n are O or integers from 1 to 5. Specified cationic surfactants are distearyl dimethyl ammonium chloride, stearyl di (polyethoxy) hydroxy methyl ammonium chloride, distearyl (polyethoxy) hydroxy methyl ammonium chloride and bis (stearoylaminoethyl) methyl ethyl ammonium sulphate. Specified betaines are 2-heptadecyl-1-methyl-(2-stearoylaminoethyl) imidazolinium methyl sulphate, disodium N-stearyl-#-iminodipropionate and N- stearyl-N, N-dimethyl betaine. In examples the composition is added to a paper pulp containing as dispersing agent polyphosphoric acid or the mucus of Hibiscus Manicot.
