1287101 Spring clips for scaffolding board ECONOMY SCAFFOLDING Ltd 19 Sept 1969 [20 June 1968] 29431/68 Headings E2B and E1S A clip for holding a scaffold board 11 against movement relative to a horizontal transom or putlog 13 of a scaffolding framework, comprises resilient steel wire shaped to provide an intermediate portion 4 which is engageable round the transom or putlog and has a portion 2, 3 at each end projecting substantially perpendicularly out of the plane containing the intermediate portion and straight portions 5, 6 extending from each end of the intermediate portion to the respective projecting portions, the arrangement being such that, in use, the clip is engaged around the transom or putlog by forcing the intermediate portion against the transom or putlog at a location beside a scaffold board, and the projecting end portions of the clip press on the upper face of the scaffold board, thereby holding the scaffold board against movement relative to the transom or putlog. In the construction shown the intermediate portion is an open loop which does not form a complete circle. In a modification however the intermediate portion extends through more than a complete circle with the end portions of the loop overlapping. The end portions 2, 3 extend on both sides of the general plane of the loop each consisting of a first section 7 extending to one side of the plane a second section 8 parallel to the first section and extending back through the plane to the opposite side of the plane and a third section 9 which extends parallel to the second section back towards the plane; a loop 10 is formed between the first and second sections for receiving a nail or screw for engagement with the board to secure the clip in place. The clip also engages a second board 12 disposed alongside the first on the opposite side of the loop.
