Abstract
1286584 Centrifugal strainer ERNST HEINKEL MASCHINEBAU GmbH 5 March 1970 [5 March 1969] 10600/70 Heading B1D A centrifugal strainer comprises a perforate cage 16 mounted on the end of annular shaft 4 and lined by a flexible filter sleeve 17 whose ends are respectively secured to the end flange 19 of the cage and to a separate base 7 of the cage, base 7 being mounted on central shaft 6 and carrying end cover 23, by connecting bolts 22, which sealingly engages flange 19 to close the cage. Shafts 4, 6 are keyed together for rotation but to allow relative axial movement. After centrifuging and possibly cake-washing in the position shown, rotation is maintained while shaft 4 and its supporting bush 2 are moved rightwards by pneumatic or hydraulic means (Fig. 1, not shown) to the chain-dotted position. Base 7 and cover 23 remain in the full-line position, so the sleeve 17 is thus turned inside out, discharging the filter cake by combined inversion and centrifugal force. The assembly is rotated by a belt drive to shaft 6. Cover 23 has a sealing ring 31 which engages flange 19 when the cage is in its left hand position. Slurry inlet 26 and wash liquid inlet 28 extend through aperture 25 in the cover.
