Abstract

1286538 Tube-making machines PRVNI BRNENSKA STROJIRNA ZAVODY KLEMENTA GOTTWALDA NARODNI PODNIK 7 Oct 1969 49133/69 Heading F2P Apparatus for continuous manufacture from plastics strip of a tube suitable for drainage and irrigation comprises a hollow mandrel 3, freely encircled by forming rollers 7, for bending the strip into a tube with its edges overlapping at the top, and a perforating wheel 12, whose two parallel rows of teeth fit into the two grooves of wheel 10, in order to punch perforations in the overlapped (upper) part of the tube as it passes between the wheels, thus connecting the two edges of the strip. In a preferred embodiment the portable apparatus, suitable for use in the field, includes a V-shaped former 5 for introducing the strip, a pipe 4 for guiding the strip on to mandrel 3, two pairs of forming rollers 7, mounted on journals 8, punching wheel 12, journalled at 13 in adjustable yoke 14, and double-grooved wheel 10, mounted (on journal 11) below wheel 12 in the bore of the strip-tube. The two rows of perforations 21, 22, make an angle α (Fig. 4, not shown) with the vertical axis of the pipe, and hold together the overlapped edges of tube 19 against the force tending to restore the strip to its original flat state. The tangential component of the force acts to maintain the circular cross-section of the tube wall. The upper two-thirds of the tube may carry additional perforations 23. The tube may be extended by means of a sleeve and glued together.
