1285908 Sulphuric acid DORR-OLIVER Inc 28 Nov 1969 58347/69 Heading C1A In a process for the production of sulphuric acid in which sulphur dioxide-bearing gases produced by the combustion of sulphur-bearing material are cooled and purified and the purified gases then reheated before being passed to a converter in which the sulphur dioxide is converted to sulphur trioxide which is subsequently converted to sulphuric acid, the purified gases having a SO 2 content of up to 13% are reheated to a temperature of from 400‹ to 500‹ C. in a single stage by heat-exchange with the sulphur dioxide-bearing combustion gases with simultaneous cooling of the combustion gases to a temperature of from 200‹ to 400‹ C.
