Abstract
1285181 Stamping WICKMAN MACHINE TOOL SALES Ltd 12 March 1970 [19 March 1969] 14315/69 Heading B3Q [Also in Division B5] A toggle-operated coining &c. press comprises a slide or ram 1 reciprocated towards and away from a thrust member 2 by a first toggle linkage 6, a second toggle linkage 8 connected between the first and a stationary point and a crank or eccentric 19 driven at constant speed for operating linkage 8, the toggle linkages being such that when one linkage is straight the other is in its position of maximum deflection, and the drive being arranged so that the slide spends a greater part of its cycle near the top of its stroke than it does near the bottom. The crankshaft 15 is driven, through a fly wheel 16, by a motor 17 and in the top position of the crank the links 8<SP>1</SP>, 8<SP>11</SP> have gone slightly beyond their straight position. Feeding; ejecting.-Blanks from a hopper 13 are fed through a tube 12 to pockets in a transfer wheel 11 in which they are pushed radially by a member (not shown). The wheel 11 is indexed by mechanism 24 driven by gearing 25 to carry the blanks over a plate 14 and between the dies 3. During coining, the blank is supported on the lower die and within an annular collar (not shown). The coin is ejected from the collar and returned to the transfer wheel by raising the lower die 3 on the thrust member 2, by means of a plunger 21 operated by a lever 20 which is controlled by a cam 23. Dieholders; stroke adjustment.-A stationary member to which the link 6<SP>1</SP> is pivoted is in two parts separated by a wedge 27 which may be withdrawn to raise the slide 1 for removal of nuts 26 holding the dies 3. A further wedge may be provided for the lower die.
