Abstract

1284591 Pneumatic presses for moulding &c BUEHLER Ltd 3 Dec 1969 [4 Dec 1968] 58924/69 Headings B5A and B5F A pneumatic press, e.g. for moulding, comprises an annular piston 27, 29 slidable in an annular chamber formed by inner and outer cylindrical walls 12, 11 and a base-plate 13, means for introducing air under pressure to the space between the piston and base-plate, a spring 31 for urging the piston toward the baseplate, and a yoke 15 carrying a ram 16 disposed within the inner tube 12 and connected to the inner tubular portion 27 of the piston by means of studs 32 extending through circumferentially spaced slots 14 in the inner tube. The ram 16 has a head 23 for compression moulding a charge 25 of plastics material around, e.g. a metallurgical sample 24 for examination purposes. Moulding is effected within a cylinder 21 having a threaded cap (22) and heating means (26), Fig. 2 (not shown).
