Abstract

128,417. Morfett, J. E. June 29, 1918. Crucible and melting-pot furnaces. - A furnace for melting soft metals has gas burners arranged in vertical series and so controlled that heat is applied first only to the upper portion of the pot to melt the metal near the top, and then the lower portion is heated. As shown, the burners c, e<1> are supplied through separate tape, stops k dividing the supply pipes for the two series of burners. Holes f are provided at the floor level, through which molten metal from broken pots may be run out.
