Abstract

1282286 Polymer compositions LION FAT & OIL CO Ltd 22 July 1969 [22 July 1968 9 Sept 1968 15 Feb 1969] 36733/69 Heading C3P Moulding compositions comprise a thermoplastic resin and as filler 20 to 90 weight per cent of calcium sulphite, a part of which may be replaced by calcium sulphate, the resin being a polyolefin, polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride, ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer, vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate copolymer, ABS terpolymer, polyamide or polyester. The compositions may also comprise 0À1 to 5 weight per cent of glycerol or ethylene glycol and minor proportions of a rubber, e.g. an ethylene/propylene or styrene/butadiene rubber, and 0À03 to 2À5 weight per cent of boric acid. Examples describe compositions comprising (1 and 3) calcium sulphite, polyethylene, ethylene/propylene rubber together with (2) calcium sulphate, (4) glycerol and (5) glycerol and boric acid; and compositions comprising calcium sulphite and (6) polystyrene and styrene/butadiene rubber, (7) polyvinyl chloride, styrene/butadiene rubber, di-n-octyl phthalate, lead stearate and lead sulphate, (8) ethylene/propylene copolymer and (9) polyethylene and ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer.
